Unmet Needs: Call Tornado Recovery Connection

24/7 Call Line Open at 615-270-9255

Even as we shelter in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the work of recovery from the devastating March tornado continues.

As we transition toward long-term disaster case management, we are moving from American Red Cross relief support to the leadership of one of the community partners, the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church, which, alongside UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), has initiated a project to support survivors. Rest assured that this partnership between the American Red Cross and the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church will allow survivors to share their information only as they desire.

The purpose of short-term screening and outreach is to provide a single point of contact to connect survivors with resources to meet their immediate needs and to collect information on their anticipated long-term recovery needs. Importantly, these screening calls will reassure survivors that the community is at work to support them. They are not alone.

The data captured and the relationships formed will serve two major functions: first, it will help develop the structure for long-term case management, determining how we can support survivors as they consider what their recovery needs are, secondly, it will provide valuable information for the many resource providers that are a part of the Davidson County Long-Term Recovery Group as we work to collectively meet the needs of our neighbors.

If you or a loved one are experiencing a current, unmet need as a result of the tornado, please call the Tornado Recovery Connection at 615-270-9255. This call line will be open 24/7. Please leave a message and you will receive a call back within 24 hours. We are currently serving Spanish and French languages and are working to increase the options available.

UPDATE: All residents affected by the tornado that may have missed the May 4 FEMA deadline, there is still an opportunity to register through July 3, 2020. Tornado survivors will need to justify why they are registering late, and it is not guaranteed to be approved. The number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
